AIA members are currently required to complete 18 hours of continuing education per year. Beginning January 1, 2009, the AIA has required all members to complete 4 hours of sustainable design as part of these 18 hours. CSI certified professionals are required to have 12 hours per year. The majority of the design, specifying and procurement audience, who are neither members of AIA or CSI, require between 8 and 50 CE hours per year to retain their professional licenses and certifications.
