In 1930, Thomas Grégoire founded Thomas T. Grégoire Inc in Victoriaville, QC, manufacturing steel cladding for farm buildings. Over 90 years later, Vicwest is still producing steel roof and siding solutions for buildings across North America.

During the second world war, production was converted to tin milk cannisters, used to bring milk to rural cheese factories
1954
Renamed to VicMétal in homage to the city it was founded in
1970
VicMétal was used coast-to-coast for large scale commercial and industrial projects
1986
VicMétal merged with Westeel, a Winnipeg-based agricultural storage solutions company to become Vicwest Steel Inc.
1995
The Buildings Product Group rebrands, changing the name from Vicwest Steel to Vicwest
2000
Vicwest and Westeel form Vicwest corporation
2004
Vicwest corporation becomes a publically traded company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange
2006-2010
Vicwest grew rapidly through acquisitions, their first IMP Manufacturing Facility launches in Hamilton, Ontario
2015
Became an independent subsidiary of the Kingspan Group
