The new Canada 150 pavilion at Harris Park, London, Ontario is a sleek and modern building built to replace the gazebo style bandshell from the 1990s. The design goals included adding additional square footage, creating a barrier free design with revised pathways, and to create a venue that would reinforce the community sense of place at Harris Park.

The pavilion was completed for July 1st to be unveiled as part of the City of London’s Canada 150 celebration.

The hangar-style metal structure has a slanted roof rising from a diagonal axis which will improve sound quality. The structure is open and contemporary, providing a venue for many types of community events.

The architectural treatment includes the use of Vicwest metal roofing and panels in Cambridge White. The white surfaces stand out against the green treed landscape creating a highly visble focal point in the park. Vicwest’s AD300R was selected for use on the interior walls and the ceiling, and Tradition 150 was selected for exterior walls and roof.

The new pavilion, unveiled on Canada Day, was the venue for several community events: a First Nations gathering, a ribbon cutting ceremony, a citizenship event, and live performances. The special Canada Day citizenship event saw a group of 50 individuals become Canadian citizens that day.

Vicwest’s AD150, 200, 275 and 300 series of wall panels are an excellent choice for designers seeking clean architectural lines in an un-insulated steel wall panel. Each of these profiles are installed using a hidden fastening system and can be applied either vertically or horizontally.

Metal Roofing Tradition 150: Tradition 150 is a steel roofing panel with a durable painted finish. It’s an excellent choice for low slope roofs or where snow build-up and water pooling areas are identified.
