Traditional shake tiles have a tendency to warp, split, mold, and eventually rot. Slate tiles are beautiful but heavy and prone to breakage and algae growth. Terracotta barrel tiles instantly distinguish a home, but like natural slate, their weight adds unwanted stress to a roof.
Whether it’s shake from a cedar tree, slate quarried from a mountainside, or terracotta molded from clay – our proprietary engineering process has enabled us to create metal casts that look unprecedentedly realistic.
Although the material itself is lightweight to minimize pressure on the roof deck itself, detailed sculpting along the edge of each True Nature tile gives it the visual weight of natural materials. This sculpting combined with multi-width imprints also eliminates the manufactured look often seen in metal roofing materials.
True Nature’s light weight and streamlined design hides features that have been designed through years of development to optimally protect your home.
True Nature’s Quadra-Loc technology locks our Shake and Slate tiles in place on all four sides, with industry-leading profile and lock depth resulting in unprecedented water-tightness and protection from extreme weather.
When it came to developing a shake and slate metal tile with unprecedented water protection, our engineering team looked to nature for inspiration.
Capillary action causes water to behave like a sticky substance. Cascading water wants to travel laterally along the edge of a roof tile and seep onto the underlayment. We’ve engineered our proprietary design to lock water into a channel, diverting downward over the tile and away from the underlayment, minimizing the greatest threat to your roof: water damage.

True Nature’s proprietary ridge cap system features a 7” wide ridge cap. This allows for a secondary water channel or “beak” that diverts driving rainwater over top of the tile rather than beneath, where it can cause damage to the roof deck.
Working together, the various channels and drainage avenues on the interlocked tiles feed rainfall down and over top of the roofing structure, returning rainwater back into the ground as nature intended.

Thanks to its wide back shelf, Coastal Wave tiles install easily without requiring any costly wood strapping. This makes installation considerably faster than competing metal roof tiles. Even when installed over existing asphalt.
One of the reasons why terracotta tiles have stood the test of time is because of the way they nest together, providing no opportunity for rainwater to seep onto the roof deck. Coastal Wave tiles continue the tradition with a high-rising back shelf and a deep front nose that create a snug overlap against water.
Strategic placement of Coastal Wave’s fasteners locks the tiles together to prevent wind uplift and maximize water-tightness. Color-matched fasteners further reinforce the seamless design.
Water is directed away from the roof deck thanks to Coastal Wave's snug overlap. The tile's high parallel ribbing naturally channels water off the roof.
